CLUGSTON SUPPORTS YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

One of the Humber region’s most prestigious business competitions for young entrepreneurs, supported by Clugston, took place at the Forest Pines Golf and Country Club Hotel recently.  The 2008 Annual Celebration and Awards evening showcased the Young Enterprise Company programme, which gives young people between the ages of 15 and 19 the opportunity to set up and run a real company for a year.  This involves electing a board of directors, raising share capital, implementing a business plan and marketing and selling a product or service of their choice. At the end of the Young Enterprise year, companies are liquidated and a set of accounts prepared for shareholders, who may even be lucky enough to receive a dividend on their investment!

2007/08 has been a great year for local young entrepreneurial talent and the competition was fierce, with 25 out of 50 registered companies competing for awards. Clugston Group Limited supported the Top Achiever award, which was won by Jamie Burnett of South Hunsley School in Melton.

Stephen Martin, Chief Executive, Clugston Group Limited presented the award to Jamie and commented ‘’ The passion and enthusiasm shown by the Young Enterprise achievers is amazing. It’s so rewarding to see them discovering the exciting, yet demanding world of business and enterprise, knowing that the experience is equipping them with the attitude, skills and knowledge for success. ’’

This inspiring event is the highlight of the year in the Humber sub region for Young Enterprise, whose mission is ‘to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise’.
