Clugston Group chief executive, Stephen Martin, was invited by the Prime Minister to join him at a reception he hosted last week [6th July] to celebrate the UK’s entrepreneurs and fastest-growing businesses at 10 Downing Street.
The Prime Minister made a short speech in which he outlined his determination for the government to make the UK the best place to start up and grow a business and he gave a commitment to support business in practical ways such as reducing the burden of ‘red tape’. He also challenged those present to come up with their top three ideas of what more can be done by government to further encourage enterprise and job creation.
Stephen had separate brief discussions with both the Prime Minister and Business Secretary, focussing on the role of business in driving wealth creation in the UK and how entrepreneurs and business leaders must continually engage with their employees to ensure UK plc remains at the forefront of global innovation.
Stephen commented: “It was a great honour to be invited to Number 10 by the Prime Minister to discuss the important role of business in society and it was very refreshing to have such open and frank discussions with both David Cameron and Vince Cable. They were genuinely interested to hear the views of entrepreneurs first hand and they both made it abundantly clear that they wanted to maintain a healthy dialogue with business leaders going forward.”
