Vivergo award Clugston two civils packages

Clugston Construction have been appointed the civil engineering package contractor by Vivergo, a joint venture company of BP, British Sugar and DuPont for a new Bioethanol production plant.

The works, carried out within the BP Chemicals plant, are subject to rigorous permitting and health and safety regimes with which Clugston have extensive experience. The package has essentially been split into North and South packages, separated by a piperack, with Clugston winning each separately.

The initial award for North includes – a wheat milling building; unloading bay and wheat tunnel; wheat silo’s; dryers A,B and C cooling tower basin and pumps; thin stillage area, WDG storage silo’s, slurry tank area, firemain drainage, piperacks and roads. The South contract, awarded four weeks later when clear confidence had been gained in Clugstons performance includes: liquefaction, distillation; waste water treatment; ethanol storage tanks, firemain drainage, piperacks; roads and paving. The project will see a peak of 250 workers on site supervised by a management team of over 35 at its peak.
