Faith in Clugston
February 2009
The Diocese of Middlesbrough has placed its faith in ClugstonConstruction by awarding them a £1.5m contract to build a new Roman Catholic Church in Guisborough.
The existing St Paulinus Church is no longer suitable as it needs major repair and is not large enough to accommodate the growing congregation.
Clugston’s team will build the new 250 seat place of worship within the boundaries of the St. Paulinus School which will remain fully operational throughout the 40 week contract period.
The works which commence this week will consist of a steel framed structure with facing brickwork to external wall and a slate covered pitched roof. New access roads and car parking will also be provided.
Steve Waggett, regional manager of Clugston Construction said “We are delighted to have secured this important contract to construct the new Church and are looking forward to working with both the Diocese and DKS architects on this project, to provide the local congregation with a first class facility “
Canon Michael Bayldon the Parish Priest said
"I am delighted for the Catholic community at Guisborough that a new church building will soon be provided. There is a lively tradition of Christian friendliness and co-operation in this town, and this resource will not only provide a modern setting for worship, it will also link various aspects of family, school and community life together on one site.
