Rotoclaves are coming...
July 2009
Clugston Construction’s team on Graphite Resources Ecopark project in Derwenthaugh are gearing themselves up for the arrival or 3, 68 tonne, rotoclaves, which were manufactured in New Orleans.
The transportation of the rotoclaves will involve a 3 day operation to get them safely on site ready for installation into the waste treatment and recycling plant .
Having left New Orleans on July 6th, they arrive into the port of Tyne on Wednesday 22nd.
Special transportation considerations have needed to be taken into account. Upon approval from both the council and police, the three rotoclaves will set off, transported by road, to arrive on site in the early hours of 24th.
Rotoclaves are a rotating vessel which are used in the autoclaving process. This process uses a combination of steam, pressure and agitation, to separate the organic fraction of waste breaking it down into a fibre. The fibre can then be used within product manufacturing or as a renewable fuel source and will count towards recycling targets.
