Oasis Opening
June 2009
The Oasis Academy Wintringham, which Clugston Construction designed and built, today played host to a wide list of local dignitaries and businesses at the Grand Opening of their £20m state-of-the-art building. Guests were treated to an opening sky diving display from the crack RAF Falcons display team and were given tours around the fantastic new Academy before gathering for lunch and the official ceremony.
Following the Falcons’ descent, whose arrival truly ensured a ‘grand opening’ of the Academy’s Grand Opening, guests were ushered in to the agora, a welcoming feature of the new building. Tours were then conducted of the facilities by a welcoming and knowledgeable team of students.
Jane Bowman, Principal of Oasis Academy Wintringham said, “We have been building towards this day for a long time. The students, staff and parents/carers have all worked together to see this exciting development come to fruition, and we are now in a fantastic position to serve our students and the local community more than ever.”
Steve Chalke, Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning said, “A new building often brings a new sense of expectation, and I know that with Jane Bowman as our Principal we are in a very strong position to not only meet these expectations head on, but to exceed them. With Jane’s leadership, Oasis Academy Wintringham will continue to improve in every way and become a brilliant facility for the whole local community.”
Steve Radcliffe managing director, Clugston Construction Ltd said "With many of the Clugston team involved in this scheme hailing from Grimsby, some of who went to the original school, this has been an especially proud project to be involved in. The relationships established with the Academy have been excellent and we intend to remain an active supporter of this learning community"
In an earlier visit, the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Eastwell referred to what he found as “A new beginning in education in a state-of-the-art building which I know will bring higher aspirations for all connected with the Academy.”
