LOCAL SCHOOL BENEFITS FROM SAFETY CONSCIOUS WORKFORCE

The Earth Tech/Clugston Joint Venture Contractor will today (11 May) present a cheque for £500 to Katesgrove Primary School.

The donation marks zero accidents achieved in the last quarter at the RE3 Waste Management Park currently being constructed at the Smallmead site on Island Road.

As part of a safety initiative aimed at promoting safe working on site, the Earth Tech/Clugston JV board and the RE3 site team have set and agreed 3 safety goals aimed at achieving zero accidents for the life of the project, as a key driver to the construction workforce the Earth Tech/Clugston JV contractor will donate £500 to a local school, Katesgrove School is the first to benefit from the scheme.

Grant Daniels, health and safety advisor for Clugston Construction said Health and safety are always of paramount importance to us and we thought this would be an innovative way of encouraging everyone involved in the project to ensure zero accidents are achieved”.

John Everitt, Clugston project manager saidthe RE3 site team are finding that the initiative is proving to be successful in motivating the workforce in raising high standards in Health and Safety on site, as the majority embrace the benefits in funding the local schools and the children’s future.

We aim to have people returning home to their families safely and without incident, getting everyone involved in looking after each other can help us achieve this. By providing incentives that benefit on many levels, we are proud to support this initiative, families and contractors can all reap the rewards of working safely.”

James Telling, Headteacher of Katesgrove Primary School saidIt is wonderful that Clugston Construction and Earth Tech have selected our school to benefit from their innovative and proactive approach to health and safety, and on behalf of the school I thank them wholeheartedly. We aim to use the award to improve playtimes and allow for safer and healthier games and activities.
