Marfleet Medical Centre

Clugston was awarded the Design and Build contractor to the Sewell LIFTCo in Hull for Hull City Care. The LIFTCo will work with Hull City Care for the next 25-30 years as their Estates Partner, developing the primary care facilities in the locality. Clugston started on site on the first project under this scheme, in October 2004 and completed one of the first LIFT projects in the country. Clugston were involved in the preparation of pre qualification submissions, presentation and commercial bid preparation. Part of this process involved selection of the support team.

The Marfleet Primary Healthcare Centre is located on Preston Road and this state-of-the-art building houses the Marfleet Group Practice, a Lloyds Pharmacy as well as several nursing and administrative teams from the Primary Care Trust. The development joins up services allowing patients to access a whole range of health services in their own local community setting. Patients receive treatment from highly equipped consulting rooms and other on site facilities which enable the provision of minor surgery, a range of therapy services, outpatients clinics and child health clinics. But what makes this building really different is the inclusion of a library and fully equipped computer suite. It is one of the first LIFT schemes to be completed in the UK and has involved a large amount of planning and consultation with all stakeholders. Bringing together nine GPʼs from across a variety of small practices and housing them in one purpose built facility together meant a detailed engagement process to ensure that all requirements were met.
