Environment

As an organisation, respecting the community is one of our core values. We also believe strongly in taking a long-term view of our actions. We are very aware of the impact our operations can have on the environment both locally (for example water and noise pollution) and globally in terms of, for example, energy use and CO2 emissions. We are determined to minimise this impact, and realise that positive action is needed to achieve these aspirations. Over the past few years, sustainability and the environment have been one of our key areas for improvement, starting at process management level.

Part of our performance measurement is our participation in the annual Business in the Community ‘Environmental Index’, where we publicly benchmark our environmental performance with other businesses in the Yorkshire and Humber Region (in all sectors, not just construction). This year we were recognised as most improved in our sector.
