Clugston were appointed civil engineering and building contractor on this 350 MW £300 million project. These works were carried out using our directly employed workforce of approximately 200 tradesmen and operatives.

The works involved the construction of large reinforced concrete structures (concrete pours in the region of 1000 cu.m were not uncommon) comprising cooling towers, bases, pits and walls and a river jetty. Infrastrucure works including large diameter drainage, access roads and drainage was installed allowing access to steel framed turbine and generation buildings, offices and a control building. Cladding works featured the use of acoustic cladding.

Works required milestone completions to specific areas to enable access for process plant and equipment. The discipline, co-ordination and planning applied to all phases of the work were ensured that all milestones were achieved to the customerʼs requirements allowing installation of the process equipment.
